COLDPLAY OPEN AN EXHIBITION OF MILA FÜRSTOVÁ’S ARTWORK FOR GHOST STORIES TODAY
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THE LIMITED EDITION WORKS WILL GO TO KIDS COMPANY
Today, Wednesday 3rd December, Coldplay open an exhibition of the artwork for their current album ‘Ghost Stories’, by the acclaimed artist Mila Fürstová. The exhibition, hosted by Album Artists, takes place at 17 Osborn Street, Shoreditch, E1 6TD. All proceeds from the sale of the works go to Kids Company. Food and Drink at the private event is provided by Gordon Ramsey.
Coldplay staged a similar event with the art for their previous album, Mylo Xyloto in 2012, and raised £750,000 for Kids Company.
The intricately-detailed artwork for the Ghost Stories album and the singles Magic, A Sky Full of Stars and True Love were all created by traditional etching techniques.
These works will be displayed alongside a never-before-seen collection of Mila’s sketches and etchings, all undertaken as part of the Ghost Stories project.
Chris Martin said: “Sometimes a piece of art looks exactly like you think your song sounds. On Ghost Stories, Mila somehow managed this time and time again. Her etchings showed exactly what we were trying to say.”
Camila Batmanghelidjh, CEO of Kids Company said: “For the children of Kids Company, Coldplay are real superheroes whose genuine philanthropy has helped change their lives for the better. If you are looking for magic, this band generates it on all levels.”
On sale will be a range of original etchings signed by the band and Mila Fürstová as well as drawings and high quality prints signed by Mila. All proceeds go to Kids Company, who provide support for disadvantaged children across the UK, often in particular need during the Festive Season.
