THE BAND ANNOUNCE NEW DOUBLE A SIDE SINGLE ‘MIDNIGHT CONTROL / FORMING OF A FATE’ OUT 19TH SEPTEMBER ON WARNER ADA
AFTER SELLING 10,000 TICKETS IN UNDER 5 MINUTES IN SHEFFIELD MILBURN EMBARK ON A SOLD OUT HEADLINE UK TOUR NEXT MONTH AND WILL ALSO SUPPORT THE COURTEENERS ON THEIR ARENA TOUR
It’s been ten years since Milburn’s major label debut ‘Well Well Well’. Now the band, who kick started the Sheffield revival that would give birth to – amongst others – Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers, are back.

When Milburn parted company eight years ago, it seemed that they may be remembered only as an influence on more successful artists still to come – a band’s band perhaps. But over time it became clear that this music would not die, stubbornly refusing to take its place in the backwaters of Spotify. Instead the songs reached a new generation; spread by chants of “Miiiilburn” at other band’s gigs and the help of social media.
The new double A side single was recorded at Parr Street studios with producer Bill Ryder-Jones former member of The Coral it was mixed by Darren Lawson (Spiritualized / White Lies) and mastered by John Davis (Led Zeppelin / Fka Twigs / Foals) at Metropolis.
Of the band’s comeback lead singer, Joe Carnall, said –“After the chaos that was the Sheffield ‘comeback’ shows it was important to us that we released some new material if we were going to take the project any further. Midnight Control is an accidental pop song. We just tried to encapsulate where we are now both musically and lyrically. Forming of a Fate is more of a straight up romper stomper – we can’t wait to play it live. Having Bill (Ryder-Jones) at the helm was crucial to the recording process; whilst he was always there to give his opinion (and ask for help on the crossword), he didn’t over produce and let a lot of the sounds take care of themselves.”
Now thanks to overwhelming public demand Sheffield’s original heroes are back, selling out four massive anniversary shows in their hometown (10000 tickets in 5 minutes) and a further 15000 tickets across the country and will be joining The Courteeners on 2 of the bands arena shows.
