Fresh from her dazzling performance on the iconic Pyramid Stage atGlastonbury Festival, today [Friday 11th August] sees the inimitable British rap queen and MOBO-award winning artist Stefflon Don link up with much-loved Nigerian superstar BNXN (formerly known as Buju) on seductive new single “What’s Poppin?”.
Following on from a run of collaborations with Brazilian artist Ludmilla, New York rapper Jim Jones and INNA, ‘What’s Poppin?’ is the latest track to be unveiled from her hugely anticipated debut album ‘Island 54’. Produced by AJ Productions, the man behind hits for Davido, Jay1 and KSI, collaborating with the supremely talented BNXN (pronounced Benson) has been a long time coming for Stefflon Don, as one of the leading voices of Nigeria’s Afrobeats wave and responsible for countless chart successes including ‘Mood’ with Wizkid, ‘Finesse’ with Pheelz and ‘Gwagwalada’ amongst others.
An effortless blend of Afro-R&B that harnesses the softer, sultry side of Steff’s vocal, the West African hitmaker BNXN’s unmistakable tone is the perfect accompaniment for a sizzling summertime anthem. Having taken TikTok by storm since the London-based rapper teased it on the platform a week ago, the track has generated an impressive 50,000 creations in just 48 hours.
The star-studded accompanying visual, directed by regular collaborator Lux London, sees both artists head to the club in stylish fashion, with cameos from Krept & Konan, K-Trap, Ivorian Doll and more. Stefflon Don’s arrival catches the eye of the onlooking BNXN, with the pair coming together in celebratory style over the warm tropical beat and the Lagos-based artist’s alluring vocals.
